Tan y Gader Access Statement

Tan y Gader is a Georgian townhouse situated close to the town centre of Dolgellau, it has rooms set on 2 main floors. We aim to provide and ensure that all of our guests have comfortable facilities. All requests are dealt with efficiently and all guests are made to feel welcome throughout the course of their stay. 

  • We have 1 on-site parking space to the front of the property, this is situated on a raised cobbled area which continues to the gate,and free available to all parking to the side of the house.This is a flat tarmacked surface with parking arrears well lit by street lighting.

  • Access to the front gate from here is a few paces to the gate, & alternative parking is available within walking distance to the B&B.

  • There is good external lighting to the front of the house with street lighting,  a porch light on the property & external lighting in the back garden.

  • Access to the garden is through the hallway with 2 steps down to the back door of the house, these are colour edged,access to the main body of the garden is currently via 5 steps making it unsuitable for wheelchair users although there are plans to make this more user friendly in the future.

  • The local town centre is a few yards walk away.

  • There is a bus station a few minutes walk from the house with a frequent well connected service.

  • The main train station is 20 minutes away by car in Barmouth.

  • There is a taxi service in the town for which we can make bookings.

  • Access to the property is via 1 short step by the front gate, then 3 slate steps up to the main entrance, which we can also provide a ramp for.

  • There is also a side entrance accessed via the car parking area through a lockable gate which leads to the back door, once inside the house this has 1 internal slate step into the reception/bedroom & dining room areas.  

  • The main entrance and most internal doors are wide enough to accommodate walking frames or pushchairs and some wheelchairs.

  • Assistance can be provided to assist guests with luggage if required.

  • The reception area is level throughout, well lit and has comfortable seating areas.

  • The dining room area is situated on the ground level as is the reception with no steps between them.

  • The ground floor bedroom has a side large opening window of which has a removable window lock in situ.

  • The rest of the house has sash windows which have safety locks in place which can also be disabled internally if required.

  • The guest drawing room is on the first floor level.

  • There is 1 ground floor en-suite bedroom with disabled access, with the floor on the door way having a small raised edged area to enable wheelchair access, the room has a low level bed, bath with shower & plug sockets at a height of 30 inches.

  • Guests will be required to negotiate 10 steps to a short landing with a further 7 steps to the first floor drawing room & a further 2 bedrooms

  • Handrails are provided on all stairways.

  • Hand held torches are provided in all bedrooms.

  • Corridors and stairways are wide and well-lit.

  • Task lighting is provided in the guest dining, drawing room and all bedrooms

  • Assistance dogs are welcome in all guest areas.

  • There is good mobile phone availability throughout the building, town and surrounding area.

  • Menus and guest information are available in large print.

  • Emergency lighting is provided in all common arears

  • The owners live on-site and are available to assist whenever possible.
